Position: Program Director - JUMP! Canada Educo Adventure School 

Location: 100 Mile House, British Columbia

Report to: Director of Partnerships and Programs

Contract Term: April 18th - September 30th, 2022 with options for extensions

JUMP! Canada Society is currently seeking a skilled and energetic candidate to fill the role of Program Director for our upcoming Summer Season in 100 Mile House. This individual will be an educational visionary who is also an enthusiastic and goal-oriented manager. The Program Director will direct and manage all projects related to staff development, program innovation & risk management for a cutting-edge Experiential Education Program. The Program Director will effectively solve problems through individual initiative; accurately communicate with the JUMP! Foundation’s multi-cultural and international client base; and contribute to the total efforts of a small, dedicated team.

This Program Director will be responsible for managing the operations and development of the Educo Adventure School.  Through dynamic leadership, facilitation skills and vision, the Program Director will be working with stakeholders to ensure the strategic objectives of our organization are a success.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:  

The Program Director is accountable for ensuring quality and completion of the following responsibilities through exemplary leadership, staff engagement, and delegation where possible:

• Co-create and co-lead the program season with the Adventure School program team
• Supporting the long-term strategy for Educo Adventure School
• Leading the program design and curriculum development for multiple programs, including collaboration with educators and other program stakeholders
• Management, training, and mentoring of all program staff
• Managing, monitoring, and training in all risk assessment and risk management systems
• Managing child protection measures
• Managing the monitoring and evaluation of all programming
• Managing budgets & financial systems related to the programs
• Community and Partnership communication

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Risk management: extensive experience in risk management process, including conducting risk assessments, developing safety standards and protocols, and training staff.
• Project management: experience managing multiple programs of varying size with diverse objectives
• Team management: experience managing and mentoring high performing program teams 
• Program design: experience in designing experiential education programs and curriculum  objectives
• Partnership management: ability to foster multiple relationships with diverse program stakeholders 
• Financial management: able to create and manage complex budgets and expense tracking systems and report on financial targets
• Monitoring and evaluation: familiarity with monitoring and evaluation approaches for experiential education programs
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Must meet the required qualifications of a JUMP! Canada and Educo Lead Facilitator
• 5+ years of work experience in experiential education
• 3+ years of management experience
• 3+ years experience in risk management systems
• 2+ years of budget and financial management
• Experience working and/or teaching in or alongside school systems

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS: ACMG TRCI, AMGA Rock/Alpine, SRT-I, Adventure Works! High and Low Ropes Course Instructor, Wilderness EMT, SRT1/FRT1

CHILD SAFEGUARDING

Applicants are expected to comply with the JUMP! Foundation’s Child Protection Policy. This includes:

• Signing a personal declaration stating any criminal convictions, including spent convictions.
• Providing the name and contact information of three references (at least two professional) they have known for no less than two years, excluding family members. These references must be included with the application form.
