Promoting safe and quality camps in bc

The British Camps Association (BCCA) believes that safe and quality camp experiences play an integral part in the development of children, youth and adults and contribute to healthy communities.

As a governing body, we effectively achieve this by: Maintaining and promoting safety standards through volunteer-driven accreditation process Providing current information to members about camp practices, as well as leadership, professional development and promotional services Informing parents and the public about the inherent benefits of accredited camps.

Claire Friedrich
Program Coordinator

Claire has been involved with the camping industry in BC as a camper and volunteer and has spent the past 10 years on the staff team at Camp Pringle in Shawnigan Lake, most recently serving as their Executive Director from July 2019-March 2022. Claire now looks forward to serving the camping industry in a new way as the part-time staffer for the BCCA and is eager to work with camps and camping professionals across BC and help them to thrive. Claire is also excited to be heading back to school part-time to work towards a teaching degree! Claire's favourite camp activities are kayaking, singing campfire songs and sharing meals in the dining hall. Claire lives in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island with her partner Nathan, her cat Lilo and her border collie pup Davy. Happy Camping!
